The Rapture Is Upon Us: Bioshock Stained Glass Skyline
Is there any better representation of the beauty and fragility of idealism and utopia than a stained glass window? And doesn’t me pointing that out just make you want to put a rock through it? Just me?
This Shockingly beautiful piece of work was made by UK based glass artist l1vethedream.

Bioshock Shows Its Crafty Side

I found this juicy bit on the Livejournal community Craftgrrl (Gamer Grrlz’ virtual sister in spirit), and I have to say I’m insanely jealous of webmyrcury’s skills. I also wish I was part of the craft trade. Bioshock merch that’s mine and mine alone? Yes please!
Sadly nothing shown here is for sale, although she does take commissions via her facebook. I hope this gives you proper drive to make your own goodies. I plan on trying to make a Plasmid bottle. With Halloween around the corner plenty of craft stores are stocking oddly shapped containers. Start looking and see what you come up with!

Bioshock Goes From Under The Sea To The Skies With Upcoming Prequel “Infinite”
In 2012 the world will be graced with the latest title in the Bioshock family, a prequel dubbed “Infinite”. Riding on the coat tails of the Steampunk movement, Irrational Studios has taken Rapture from the sea floor, thrown on some brass and gears, launched it skyward and renamed it Columbia. (No word on its sister city Magenta…) The plot line is simple. Columbia was to be the shining star of America. The crowning achievement of science, the city floats high above the world on giant balloons. However it got lost (darn trade winds!), and became a legend. This doesn’t stop Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt who’s determined to find the floating city and rescue the plot point woman he’s quested to save. Hmm, suddenly I want to watch Laputa.
Not much else is known yet. It will be on 360/PS3/PC, and should be out in two years or so. There will be plasmids, although we don’t yet know if they’ll still be called plasmids or if they’re renaming everything. There will be monsters though. Oh yes, shiny mechanical monsters.
Editorial: Honest? I’m not feeling it. I adored the first two games. The isolation, knowing you have no real allies, realizing the power you have in your hands. It all made the game great. Now it seems to me like Irrational has run out of idea, so they’re repackaging whatever they can. I’m sure I’ll change my mind once more information is released. Right now though, it seems like they’re using an established franchise to cash in on the Steampunk craze.
Scarlet Pirate: I, for one, am THRILLED to see this. I thought Bioshock 1 was awesome, unique, engaging, blah blah blah. But Bioshock 2 was sooooo boring! Same damn game! Sure there was more backstory, but it was the same environment, same tactics, same methods.
I’ll admit this game seems like Bioshock in the Sky, but the interview alluded to some key differences that weren’t obvious in the trailer. The simple fact that there’s nonviolent, normal NPCs is enough to make a difference. And being out in the open should easily change the combat mechanics. Besides, anything that makes you want to watch Miyazaki is a good thing, right?
Bad Fish: Having not played either of the games, I have nothing of value to add to this article. Except Miyazaki! Steam Boy! Whee!
