It’s my wedding day! Hephaesta finally figured out how to get herself hitched, and has chosen herself a worthy mate. Check out a video of their ceremony above. I dressed her all up in the Armor of the Old Gods just for the occasion, and she looks bitchin’. I couldn’t get my bethrothed to wear anything other than armor (women, amiright?) but I think we make a dapper couple all the same.
To be eligible for marriage in Skyrim, you first must find or purchase an Amulet of Mara (one can be bought from the priest Maramal at the Temple of Mara, or obtained from the Bleak Falls Barrow quest in the chest at the beginning of the level. They can be randomly spawned as well). Wearing the amulet will open new dialogue with other NPCs, allowing you to ask if they are interested in you. I chose Mjoll The Lioness, who I have a big crush on. Some NPCs will require you to finish a quest for them before they agree; in this case, I’d already located Grimsever and so Mjoll was willing to marry right away. You must first speak to Maramal at the Temple of Mara about the customs of marriage, then propose to your intended while wearing your amulet. If they agree, you can speak to Maramal again to arrange the ceremony, which starts 24 hours later. Some NPCs that you’ve helped from past quests may attend. In my case, a cranky Jarl and Erandur came to the wedding, as well as some random beggar from Riften that I’d given money to. I’d hoped for more. Cicero and Sanguin could have made for some interesting guests.
