Is That An Emulator In Your Pocket Or…?

ThinkGeek doesn’t just think geek. They read gamers’ minds. What you see above is the a320 Pocket Retro Game Emulator, a hand held gaming device that you customize by adding roms of your choosing. That’s right. A portable way to play your emulator games on the go. Perhaps you could take this time to catch up on the MOTHER 3 fan translation or a fan game like Super Mario Brothers: Shine Expedition.

These are currently on back order, but should be available on October 22, for the price of $99.99. No trick. All treat.

Hey! You Got Your NES In My SNES!

I’d say our grandfathers would roll in their graves to see a dual NES/SNES hacked together in such a fashion, but, that doesn’t work, since NES generation is my generation. So I guess if I were dead, or at least, died at age eight, I would be doing some barrel rolls right now in my coffin.

The 26 year old very much alive me, however, loves this. Not only is it cheap at a rock bottom fifty bucks, but it also plays “most” Japanese imports. For purchasing, check out the ThinkGeek link below.

Sure, Why Not: Nintendo Controller iPod Dock

This is very cute but once again I must protest the use of vintage NES gear as a craft supply. Its like these people don’t realize that NES controllers aren’t made anymore. Once they’re gone, they’re gone! Gone the way of improvised smokeware and kitschy iPod docks.

This monument to hardware abuse is all yours for $34.99.

This Shirt Is/Was Cool

I like this. This, however, is no longer available. So by the transitive property, what I like is no longer available. Now I must cry.

This “Play Outside” T, from TeeFury (who does a t-shirt-a-day shtick), was only for sale on November 21, 2009. May it rest in peace.

Super Mario Hardcore

Ever wondered what it’d be like to listen to Nathan Explosion play Super Mario Brothers while on a three day crack binge? No? Well that’s too bad, ‘cause I have the audio right here.

Warning: very NSFW. Coming from my dirty hooker mouth, so that’s saying something. Ear muffs, Max, ear muffs!

USB NES Controller Is All Sorts Of Awesome

This could not have come at a better time. Well, for me anyway. I’ve been doing a lot of research on fan-made NES games for PC (word, Super Mario Brothers: Shine Expedition fans!) I’d been fully prepared to try them out with the keyboard controls, but with this…maybe I don’t have to? Not that I’m not awesome with the strafe keys (‘cause I am), but like I’ve said before. Laziness rules my day.

The retro NES Controller is USB powered and available for $29.99, via Think Geek.

Felt Playstation iPhone Case!

Quick, what’s a word for jealous and impressed? Jimpressed? Impealous? Someone has to invent it so I can use it. These felt video game creations have me feelin’ both. This Playstation replica/iPhone or gadget case, $20, (note: controller sold seperately) is only the beginning from Etsy artist RabbitRampage.

These felt controller key chains are to die for. I wouldn’t attach them to a gaming device, as pictured above and below, but on my keyring? Definitely. They’re lightweight (no key ignition damage for this chica!) and at only 2” x 3”, they fit easily in most purses. XBOX 360 controller plush keychain, $8.00 each, comes with phone strap. Bottom, Playstation controller plush keychain, $7.00.

There’s even something for us old schoolers. NES controller plush keychain, $7.00:

I’m hoping as time goes on that we’ll see even more from this seller. Maybe Sega Dreamcast controllers, or Wiimotes?

Women’s 8 Bit Shirts From Low Rez

Well! Don’t know about you gals, but I got MY outfit planned out for Penny Arcade! These are perfect!

Its not often you see a T shirt company go out of their way to design retro gaming shirts with women in mind. And even better, these are shirts women would actually want to wear. Above is a Fire Flower inspired T, and below, a Super Nintendo controller:

Most of the designs appear to be available for a variety of cuts and colors, staying in about the 20 to 30 dollar price range.

How high can you get? Hm. I don’t think they want me to answer that question. It doesn’t mean for me what it means for other people. I love that they used the Donkey Kong tiles for the font, though.

And that Qbert shirt on the left…I wanna know…does it come with the floating profanity?

On the right is a Frogger “inspired” shirt, on the left a fireball I swear I’ve seen in Super Mario 3. That’s actually kind of clever. Extending the pixels into solid bars instead of individual squares. Looks cute…and circumvents copyright laws!

Yes, That Is A Nintendo Toaster

From the creators website:

I had an awful lot of people suggesting that my previous project (the Super Genintari/Leviticus) looked like a toaster. I then discovered that I had an extra NES and toaster laying around and knew what had to be done.Ripped all the main guts out of the toaster and replaced them with an NES board, some orange LEDs, AC adapter and controller ports. Kept the front lever functional as the main power on/off switch and the crumb tray just for fun. Composite audio/video jacks are on the rear of the unit. The temperature knob does nothing.

Pffft. That’s not even impressive. Call me when it can really toast things, too. I like warm Pop Tarts when I’m playing Super Mario 3, goopy piping hot chocolate filling and all! And if I can’t have one while my ass starts to grow around my bean bag hassock without necessitating a trip to the kitchen, well then, I’m just not interested, sorry! LOL I kid of course. It does, however, inspire a few new art projects to start taking up space on my living room floor!
