Now available as a stand alone item, the Misty Pink 3DS is coming to retail shelves February 10. Perfect excuse to demand 3DS for Valentine’s Day.
The New Castle Crashers Knight Will Tickle You Pink
People want the pink. Which is something we’re all aware of, but in this case I was a little surprised. By popular demand, a new Knight is joining PSN’s Castle Crasher roster, in a tantalizing shade of candy pink. Along with the new hue, this addition brings a total of four new weapons, including a lollipop!
And while the new Knight’s February 8 release is conveniently timed right before Valentine’s Day, 100% of the $1.99 price will go towards breast cancer research. Behemoth also assures that there will be a version coming out for XBLA’s Castle Crashers in the coming weeks.
I Want Candy…Pink DualShock 3 Controllers
You may be thinking to yourself right now, “Ok, where’s she gonna go with this?” Awesome new pink controller. Ad filled with women, and only women. What to do, what to do…
Actually, I love the new color and I even love the name, “candy pink”. The ad? At this point, such blatant and direct gender based advertising has become so stale that all I can do is laugh. This particular ad almost seems not to come from a place of “HEY WIMMINZ, now we gots a controller for your dumb little lady brains!” but “Don’t worry (male) PS3 fans. We’re not trying to undermine your masculinity by promoting this to you! We promise! Please don’t hurt us.” It’s kind of hilarious in parallel to the obvious care they took in making sure every race was represented.
On the other hand, maybe they’re just making a savvy business move. The DualShock controllers do, after all, vibrate.
I would love to see the day where gender-neutral advertising is the priority instead of the exception (Nintendo seems to do a spanking good job of it, as I don’t recall raising an eyebrow to the ads for their new pink controllers, despite that they were put opposite the traditionally masculine blue ones) but until then, fuck it. I’m going to enjoy this candy pink controller anyway. It’s way cuter than the Xbox 360 one.

Kirby’s Epic Yarn Needs To Be Here Already
If ever there was a game we could designate the Gamer Grrlz mascot, surely this one would be it.
When I saw Kirby’s Epic Yarn at E3 2010 I instantly noted (as a few GG fans did) how perfect it was for geekcraft enthusiasts such as myself. I may prefer games with the words “eviscerate” and “gut wrenching blood bath” in the descriptor, but I do love me some cute, pink, and Kirby. Plus, it’s kind of perfect that they went with a distinct look for Kirby’s big Wii title. I think the yarn-like art style is what will really make the anticipation right up there with Metroid: Other M and Skyward Swords, cinching Kirby’s transition from B+ list mascot to the top tier of Nintendo stars, up there with Mario and Link.

Mai Shiranui Capcom vs. SNK Card Perler Bead Sprite
Finished up this one today, an SNK card of Mai Shiranui, of Fatal Fury and King of Fighters fame. As anyone familiar with the original card knows, the fan gets cut off by the border that I omitted, so I had to make it up myself.
Since I didn’t show you guys my other project, here it is while I’m at it:
Thanko The Maker: Mini WiFi Web Camera
As much as webcams usually don’t interest me (no one needs to see me eating floor food and wiping my boogers on the carpet, thanks) this one has a certain appeal. This mini WiFi web camera not only can capture fifteen frames per second, it also lasts up to five hours on one charge and can be used up to ten meters away from your computer. Plus there’s the bitchin’ hot pink. Maybe y’all need to see me eating floor food after all.
Appx. $88USD, from Thanko.
Paper Craft + Game Boy = Paper Boy?
Ah, Game Boy. Such pleasant memories of many an hour wasted in my pre-millenium youth. It’s only fitting that this Game Boy paper craft comes in what should be considered *the* elite color palette of the ’90s. Seriously, I remember last seeing these hues in my new “neon” Crayola pack circa 1992, scribbling in my Ninja Turtles coloring book and singing New Kids on the Block at the top of my lungs. All this paper craft needs is a Zack Morris phone and some acid washed jeans and the look is complete.
