From your heart to his ears. Reddit user GLaDOS_Garmin_Thrwwy has finally done the inevitable, and the evil: the world now has Garmin-compatible GLaDOS sound files. Yes, you can now be bossed around in your car by the mechanical mistress or murder herself, provided you follow the links from Reddit. Or just live vicariously through YouTube.
Sigh…look at me, talking…when there’s all this driving to do…
More Testing To Be Done With New Portal 2 DLC, Now Available
After the promise of a June, and then “summer” and then “mid September” release, Portal 2 DLC chapter Peer Review has finally arrived. This co-op content features new challenges for P-Body and Atlus as they face the wrath of GlaDOS once again. A challenge mode has also been added to single and multiplayer, with leaderboards to compare to scores with the community and your friends.
To celebrate this momentous occasion (read: apologize for “Valve time”), Portal 2 is now 50% off on Steam through Thursday, 4 PM PST. Do the science math—that’s Portal 2 for $15!
That is a cake. And you’re pretty much an asshole if you even think about eating it.
Valve Plans For Early Left 4 Dead 2 ‘Dead Air’ Release
Cold Stream, if you remember, is the upcoming DLC that brings some of the Left 4 Dead campaigns, as well as a new user-created campaign, to Left 4 Dead 2. Among those is Dead Air, which thanks to a completed community challenge, will now be coming early, “July 22 at the latest”.
Last week, Valve issued said challenge to the Cold Stream testing crowd, saying that if at least 20,000 people would complete the campaign on the (now-passed) weekend, Dead Air would be released ahead of schedule. That number was easily passed, tripled in fact: over 60,000 users earned the “Stream Crosser” achievement.
Valve To Make Gamescom Appearance After E3 2011 Absence
While Valve disappointingly had nothing to show for E3 2011, it looks like Gamescom will be a different case. A mere two months after L.A.’s big event, the German expo will host the Half Life and Portal creators, who currently are developing Defense of the Ancients 2. Of course, it need not be said that this once again brings whispers of Half Life 3, but more than likely they’ll simply be announcing more Portal 2 DLC. Or hey, maybe they’ll announce Left 4 Dead 3, just to piss us off.
Gamescom will be held in Cologne, Germany, August 17 through August 21, 2011.
It’s done! The lovely knitter behind this Companion Cube sweater finished ‘er all up recently and even posted a pattern. Time to brush up on my knitgeekspeak!

Coming this summer, the first add-on will add new test chambers (yes!), leader boards, and a challenge mode for single and multiplayer. Oh, and it’s FREE! Press release below:
As previously reported, Portal 2 will feature the ultra-rare cross platform multiplayer, utilizing Steam and Playstation 3 to allow co-op between the two systems. From Valve:
